Jnr Mud­dies fall 18 runs short of vic­tory

THE Un­der-12 Dou­glas Mud­dies cap­tained by Nathan Deu­ble played their third match of the sea­son against Ma­reeba Al­ls­tars at Borzi Park, Ma­reeba on Satur­day fin­ish­ing in a close loss by the Mud­dies team. Nathan won the toss and sent Ma­reeba in to bat first.

Reuben Al­li­son took the first wicket of the match with a catch by Daniel David­son.

Hugo Walker as­sisted by wick­et­keeper Keel Sorensen ini­ti­ated a great run-out to re­move the sec­ond bats­man from the crease.

Best bowl­ing fig­ures were Levi Trewick 1-1 off three of which two were maid­ens, Keel Sorensen 1-4 off three, and Hugo 1-15.

The op­po­si­tion fin­ished their 27 overs on 5-127.

The team’s new­est Mud­dies play­ers Ash­ton Daven­port and Raine Sorensen have con­tin­ued to im­prove ev­ery week show­ing fan­tas­tic bowl­ing with their first overs only in­cur­ring one run against them.

Luke Twomey and Hugo Walker opened the bat­ting with Luke caught out on two be­ing re­placed by Ryan Doble. Hugo scored 11 runs un­til be­ing caught out and Ryan re­tired to al­low his other team­mates to bat.

Raine Sorensen went in to bat with his brother Keel and showed good sports­man­ship when he re­turned to the bench af­ter be­ing run out af­ter only fac­ing a few balls.

Keel Sorensen again played a great game top scor­ing on 16. Nathan Deu­ble and Levi scored nine each, Reuben seven, Nathan six and Ryan on three.

Mud­dies were all out on the 27th over with 10-109.
