All hail, here come the fu­ture leg­ends

HOWZAT - five boys from the Dou­glas re­gion have been cho­sen to play in the state cricket cham­pi­onships next month.

Ben Shrimp­ton, 13, and 14-year-olds Kaiden Sorensen, David Coulthard and Glen Ives will play in the Un­der-14 Far North side in the state cham­pi­onships in Bund­aberg from Novem­ber 26 un­til De­cem­ber 2.

The boys re­cently played in tri­als in Cairns with other young play­ers from Cape Tribu­la­tion to Tully and im­pressed the se­lec­tors.

Tom Goodall, 12, played in tri­als over four days at Tolga was cho­sen to rep­re­sent the Un­der 12 side with games on the Gold Coast start­ing on Novem­ber 13.

Dou­glas Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion sec­re­tary Sue Sorensen said it was a great achieve­ment for the boys to get this far and well de­served.

“All the boys just love their cricket and have worked and put in a lot of train­ing and so it is great to see that their ef­forts have been re­warded by be­ing se­lected to play in these up­com­ing cham­pi­onships, and we wish them all well,” she said.
