All hail, here come the future legends
HOWZAT - five boys from the Douglas region have been chosen to play in the state cricket championships next month.
Ben Shrimpton, 13, and 14-year-olds Kaiden Sorensen, David Coulthard and Glen Ives will play in the Under-14 Far North side in the state championships in Bundaberg from November 26 until December 2.
The boys recently played in trials in Cairns with other young players from Cape Tribulation to Tully and impressed the selectors.
Tom Goodall, 12, played in trials over four days at Tolga was chosen to represent the Under 12 side with games on the Gold Coast starting on November 13.
Douglas Cricket Association secretary Sue Sorensen said it was a great achievement for the boys to get this far and well deserved.
“All the boys just love their cricket and have worked and put in a lot of training and so it is great to see that their efforts have been rewarded by being selected to play in these upcoming championships, and we wish them all well,” she said.
