Lo­cals en­joy play­ing the part of ex­tras

SEV­ERAL Port Dou­glas lo­cals cast as ex­tras on Reef Doc­tors are hav­ing a ball.

The Gazette caught up with four lo­cal ex­tras

dressed as back­pack­ers who got to work with the 140-strong cast and crew dur­ing the first week of film­ing.

“They are all very nice and friendly and it’s crazy just how many peo­ple there are,” Amelia Steven­son said.

Billy Thomp­son has been mak­ing friends with ac­tor Richard Bran­cati­sano.

“We put up with Richard, he isn’t too bad,” he joked with Richard in earshot.

Jessie For­rest has had fun learn­ing on the set.

“When we aren’t work­ing we sit around try­ing to keep cool, it’s so hot down there on set and you al­most want to jump in the river, but no,” she said.

Jar­rah Kurth is no stranger to work­ing as an ex­tra, hav­ing worked as a child on the set of Ocean Girl, also filmed in Port Dou­glas.

“It has been good fun and great meet­ing new peo­ple,” he said.
