Locals enjoy playing the part of extras
SEVERAL Port Douglas locals cast as extras on Reef Doctors are having a ball.
The Gazette caught up with four local extras
dressed as backpackers who got to work with the 140-strong cast and crew during the first week of filming.
“They are all very nice and friendly and it’s crazy just how many people there are,” Amelia Stevenson said.
Billy Thompson has been making friends with actor Richard Brancatisano.
“We put up with Richard, he isn’t too bad,” he joked with Richard in earshot.
Jessie Forrest has had fun learning on the set.
“When we aren’t working we sit around trying to keep cool, it’s so hot down there on set and you almost want to jump in the river, but no,” she said.
Jarrah Kurth is no stranger to working as an extra, having worked as a child on the set of Ocean Girl, also filmed in Port Douglas.
“It has been good fun and great meeting new people,” he said.
