Mossman stableford a thriller
THE Tuesday men played a stableford competition at the Mossman Golf Club last week which was won by John Caswell with 43 points ahead of Rus Watkins on 41.
Barry Brims was third with 39. Nearest the pins were Ed Sant on 6, Jock O’kane on 8, Steve Warden on 10, Simon Nelson on 13 and Dave Nesbitt on 17.
Geoff Goodwin won the nine hole sporters on Wednesday with 24 points around the front nine. Barry Costain was second with 23 points and Dennis Blake was third with 22 points. Bill Heath won nearest the pin on 6 and Costain won 8.
The Thursday ladies was washed out but the ladies got their chance on Saturday as the weather cleared. Trish Landy took out the Monthly medal with nett 73 after a count back to Julie Hooker. Shona Barbour won nearest the pin on 8, Glenda Christensen won 10 and Lyn Heimann won 13.
Wayne Baxter took out the men’s Monthly medal with nett 66 on Saturday four shots clear of second placed Bill Allison on nett 70. Brett Jurie won the A Grade gross, Mal Phillips won B Grade and Maurice Meth won C Grade.
Ralf Midell won the A Grade nett, Geoff Goodwin won B Grade and Rick Weimar won C Grade. Nearest the pins were John Norris on 6, John Petherbridge on 8, L Gibson on 10 and Geoff Goodwin on 13.
Art Howard won Sunday’s stableford competition with 36 points after a count back to John Cameron. John won nearest the pin on 13.
