R.I.P. GI

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

FRIENDS will farewell loveable larrikin Graham Nicholls just the way he would like it - with a few beers and a laugh at the Port Douglas Yacht Club.

Graham, who arrived in Port Douglas 10 years ago searching for a boat and found his paradise in the process, peacefully succumbed to a brain tumour in Melbourne last month.

Known to his mates as GI, or Graham Ibis - the name of his boat - Graham was a regular at the yacht club’s Wednesday Afternoon Gentlemen and Ladies Sailing (WAGLS) and was also known to hold up the bar at the Combined Club when the occasion called for it.

His final wishes were to have his ashes scattered in his favourite playground, the Coral Sea, which his family and close friends plan to do early next year.

In the meantime, a few of his local mates have organized a memorial wake at the yacht club from 4pm on Thursday, December 15.

Anyone who wants to say a few words and remember the good times over a cold beer or wine is welcome to join them, with finger food provided.

RIP:

beloved boatie Graham Nicholls
