Sea Temple set for battle
AROUND 60 golfers will battle it out for top honours in the 2011 Sea Temple Open this weekend.
The 36-hole tournament will tee-off on Saturday and finish on Sunday with a final presentation lunch and a chance for winners to be awarded their prizes.
Sea Temple golf operations manager David Roche said everyone is welcome to compete but you have to sign on before tomorrow afternoon.
“It is a tournament for golfers mostly in and around the region with 60 people competing so far and coming from as far away as Brisbane,” he said.
“People should join in because it is two days of golf on a fantastic golf course and a chance of becoming the Sea Temple Champion of 2011.
“It’s a chance to test your golfing talent against the best golfers in the region.”
The gross winner will be crowned the Sea Temple champion and there will also be prizes for net winners in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
“The prizes include golfing products, golf bags, club shirts, vouchers for accommodation and spa packages for the ladies,” Roche said.
“And the trophy for the men’s winner and the ladies’ winner will be handed out during the presentation lunch on Sunday.”
Part of the package of the Open includes a hearty lunch before tee-off at 12.30pm on Saturday and then the lunch with the presentation on Sunday and the bar will be open for all thirsty golfers.
Roche encourages everyone to compete for a great game of golf and a chance to promote and support our region.
“The Sea Temple Open helps to promote golf in Far North Queensland to a wide audience,” he said.
“People come up and compete and will go back to their respective clubs and promote the region - it is good for Port Douglas.”
