Penin­sula makes the fi­nals

FOUR Moss­man State High stu­dents who made the Penin­sula 14 Years and Un­der cricket team were ec­static to re­turn from Bund­aberg last week af­ter fin­ish­ing run­ners-up at the School­boys’ State Cham­pi­onships.

Penin­sula, cap­tained by David Coulthard, made it to the fi­nal af­ter de­feat­ing South Coast, Met­ro­pol­i­tan West, North­ern and Capri­cor­nia in tough matches as 10 teams con­tested the ti­tle.

Bat­ting first in the fi­nal, Penin­sula fin­ished with 7-133 off its 50 overs while Bris­bane’s Met North team scored the win­ning runs in the 39th over with the loss of seven wick­ets.

Glen Ives opened the bat­ting, top­ping Penin­sula’s bat­ting ag­gre­gate for the week, while Ben Shrimp­ton and Kaiden Sorensen took valu­able wick­ets, runs and catches for the team.

The boys en­joyed the car­ni­val im­mensely and would like to thank ev­ery­one who has helped them along the way.
