Yacht club spots a bloody big croc

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

WELSH tourist Sue Morgan snapped this monster crocodile while relaxing at the Port Douglas Yacht Club last Thursday.

Someone from the mouth of the estuary phoned the yacht club to alert them that a large croc was heading toward them.

It arrived to a group of people shouting and pointing at the water: “Croc! Crocodile! Bloody big croc!”

Mrs Morgan grabbed her camera and raced off out on to the gang-plank to grab a couple of shots before it swam off.

“I was so happy to get the picture as I am an avid photographer, in fact wherever I go, my camera goes,” Mrs Morgan said.

Mrs Morgan and her husband have been holidaying in Port Douglas since October and will head home to Wales next month.

While holidaying here, Mrs Morgan said that she and her husband were invited to a dinner where Damien “Damo” Smith, the 40-year-old from Tasmania who was found unconscious in Macrossan St on November 11, entertained everyone with wonderful stories and very funny jokes.

“It was such a terrible thing what has happened to Damien because the night were with him and a number of other friends he was such a warm person telling fabulous stories and wonderful jokes - we all had a ball,” Mrs Morgan said.

“And for this to happen to such a nice guy it really is sad and we can only hope that he fully recovers.”
