We wish you a karaoke Christmas
IT’S time for superb local singers and wannabe warblers to hit the high notes for Christmas carols under the community Christmas tree - karaoke-style.
Carols Karaoke will be held under the Port Douglas community Christmas tree in Market Park which has been decorated with “sustainable bling”.
The whole of Market Park is now dazzling after dark with more than a dozen laser lights creating a magical element for Christmas courtesy of the Celebrations Fund - a joint initiative between the Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce and Cairns Regional Council.
Council’s Douglas region manager Liz Collyer encouraged singers of all persuasions to come along to Carols Karaoke and belt out some of their festive favourites.
“We are looking for people to lead the carols karaoke-style," she said.
“We will have song books and the karaoke singers can lead and everyone in the crowd can sing along.”
Ms Collyer will MC the event with Mossman nurse and selfconfessed king of karaoke Stephen Oldham.
“We are encouraging families to bring a rug to sit on and have a picnic,” Ms Collyer said.
There will also be a fundraising sausage sizzle cooked by the SES and brochures for visitors on accommodation around town.
To book your favourite carol, contact Ms Collyer at the council on 4099 9410 and begin practising for the free event next Tuesday, December 20, from 7pm in Market Park.
“You can register on the night but if you have got a favourite carol it’s best to register and do some rehearsals at home, in the shower,” Ms Collyer said. “Come along and have some fun and share the spirit of Christmas Port Douglas-style.”
