In the women’s division, defending champion Sai Lenz again took top honours despite being 12 shots behind clubmate Ruth Yelland after the first round.

Lenz eventually finished five shots in front of Yelland, with Nerida Wilson third a further three shots back.

Sea Temple golf operations manager David Roche said the tournament was very well received by the players, who travelled from as far away as Canada, the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane to compete.

“It positions the tournament very well to be even bigger and better next year,” he said.
