Club stal­wart smashes hand­i­cap with an­other win

MAK­ING a tri­umphant re­turn to the win­ners’ cir­cle has en­abled Sea Tem­ple Golf Club stal­wart Hugh Collins to be­come the talk of the 19th hole af­ter he bet­tered his hand­i­cap by five to take out Wed­nes­day’s Bisque Sta­ble­ford event with a well struc­tured 41 points.

Trevor Hauff, a fur­ther three shots adrift, was out­right sec­ond with a solid 38 points.

The count-back sys­tem was em­ployed to de­ter­mine that Alan White was third af­ter a three-way tie that in­cluded Peter Hinch­cliffe and Alan Wy­ness af­ter all three play­ers carded 37 points. Peter Tom­lin­son won near­est-the-pin on hole six.

The ladies’ event was won com­pre­hen­sively by Kay Tom­lin­son who re­turned an im­pres­sive score of 39 points.

This eas­ily ac­counted for pur­ple patch player Rit­suko Dickinson who played to her hand­i­cap and amassed 36 points.

Count­backs were the or­der of the day in Fri­day’s Stroke event. Mark Nor­man and Derek Hall both carded re­spectable scores of 69 net. How­ever, a su­pe­rior back nine en­abled Mark to claim vic­tory.

Rob Hart, Alan White and Richard Goudie all re­turned a score of 72 net. An­other count-back en­sued with Rob be­ing awarded third place. Richard Goudie won the near­est-the-pin award on hole 11.

Vis­it­ing golf nut Gary Cut­ler (Par­adise Palms) blitzed the field in Satur­day’s Sta­ble­ford event with a mas­ter­ful 41 points. Tony Dickinson played to his hand­i­cap and scored 36 points thus po­si­tion­ing him sec­ond place ahead of Norm Thom­son who was out­right third with 35 points. Alan White was awarded the near­est-thepin for his shot into hole num­ber three.
