Luckiest shopper in town
CHRISTMAS was looking pretty bleak for Kim and Warren Coleman but that thanks to the Gazette and IGA they will now be able to enjoy the festive season with their family after winning free groceries for a year.
Regular shoppers at IGA, they entered the Gazette’s Lucky Shopper competition which offered the major prize of getting free groceries for a whole year.
The husband and wife team were very happy and could not believe their good fortune.
“It really is fabulous and the win couldn’t have come at a better time,” Mrs Coleman said. Mr Coleman was equally chuffed. “This is wonderful. Kim and I have had a very tough 12 months and we wanted to have our family with us at Christmas but we couldn’t afford it but this win makes all the difference,” Mr Coleman said.
“The win and the generosity of the Gazette and IGA simply means we can now invite our family to come and join us for Christmas . . . it’s just wonderful.”
The Coleman’s moved to Port Douglas 12 years ago and live at Four Mile.
Almost as delighted were runner-up winners Lyn Heimann and Belinda Hardiman, who each won gift vouchers valued at $500 to spend at local retail outlets that participated in the Lucky Shopper promotion.
IGA manager Paul Scott said it was a great feeling to bring joy to people so close to Christmas.
“It’s something that changes people’s lives and we’re delighted to be a part of it,” he said.
