Water way to win big

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

JODIE Heise of Port Douglas has picked up a free washing machine simply by having a free water service conducted by Cairns Regional Council.

Mrs Heise’s name was drawn from more than 900 residents who had registered with the Water Smart Home Service conducted by council over the past three months to push the sustainable water message.

Mrs Heise said it was the first thing she had won from entering a competition.

The winner of the 1500-litre Ultra-slim water tank in the same competition was Janette Walker, also of Port Douglas.

“We couldn’t believe our luck as this is a very timely prize because we were thinking about going to buy a tank for the back yard to use for watering the garden,” she said.

“I was very impressed with their service in doing a complete check of all of our water pipes in our home and they left us with a detailed report of their inspection - it was very impressive.”
