Tourism Talk

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - TOURISM TALK -

While capital cities are performing well, the lack of dispersal into regional areas means we are still doing it tough.

For the two major weeks over Christmas bookings are looking positive and with a year ahead of 29 visits from cruise ships, Carnivale and Challenge Cairns, the solar eclipse and some new product development, things are looking positive for 2012.

There are some more great industry opportunities and we have an exciting major national marketing campaign in the New Year.

With Neighbours and Reef Doctor highlighting the region and some excellent coverage in both international and domestic travel media including the Qantas in-flight magazine, the strength of the wedding market and the renewed activity in the incentive and conference market, all point to a positive future for our great destination.

The team here at Tourism Port Douglas Daintree, Tara, Chelsea, Jess and of course myself, wish all of our community, family and friends a happy, safe, prosperous Christmas and New Year.
