Hunt for hang glider
COMPLAINTS have been raised about a powered hand glider flying dangerously close to the ground on Four Mile Beach last Sunday.
Police are conducting Inquiries to locate the owner to speak with and remind them they still come under legislation require- ments under the ultra light association of Australia and cannot fly below 500-feet.
Port Douglas Police Officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Damien Meadows said responsible commercial charters such as Sky Safari get special permission to land on Four Mile Beach with an organised landing area.
“In built up areas they shouldn’t be flying below 500-feet, action can be taken under the criminal code act for endangering life,” he said.
Anyone with information should pass it on to police 4087 1999, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
