Knife man jumps bal­cony

PO­LICE ar­rested a 33-year-old Cooya Beach man on Jan­uary 4 in re­la­tion to a pub­lic nui­sance of­fence which took place in Reef St, when he made threats to a res­i­dent and pro­vok­ing po­lice. Later on that evening the man was found run­ning through a unit com­plex in pos­ses­sion of a knife and a short time later was in­volved in an al­ter­ca­tion with po­lice with­out the knife. The man evaded po­lice by jump­ing over a sec­ond-floor bal­cony but was ar­rested a cou­ple of hours later and sub­se­quently charged with the pub­lic nui­sance of­fence and of­fences of tres­pass, wil­ful dam­age, break-and-en­ter and ob­struct­ing po­lice. The man ap­peared in the Cairns Mag­is­trate’s Court and was granted bail un­til Jan­uary 25 but has since breached his bail and is wanted for ques­tion­ing by po­lice, evad­ing po­lice again on Jan­uary 9.
