Po­lice­man cops bite

MOSS­MAN po­lice are crack­ing down on pub­lic dis­tur­bances and are be­ing as­saulted for do­ing their job while try­ing to make pub­lic ar­eas of Moss­man fam­ily and tourist-friendly.

On Tues­day at 5.30pm po­lice were called to a dis­tur­bance on Fox­ton Av­enue, be­side Ge­orge Davis Park, and a se­nior con­sta­ble was as­saulted when a wo­man al­legedly bit him on the hand.

The 22-year-old Moss­man Gorge wo­man ap­peared in court in Cairns yes­ter­day charged with one count each of se­ri­ous as­sault po­lice, ob­struct po­lice and pub­lic nui­sance.

In the last fort­night of 2011, five men were given no­tices to ap­pear in court for con­sum­ing liquor in a pub­lic place, when they were caught drink­ing in Fox­ton Park.
