Warm welcome in Port

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

MYSELF and my family have recently relocated from the Sunshine Coast to the beautiful township of Port Douglas and let me just say that the transition has been absolutely wonderful.

Ally my wife and I came up for a holiday in late October and, as they say, we fell in love with the place.

The warm friendly atmosphere created by the locals really became apparent to us while watching the World Cup final at the Central Hotel.

They made us feel welcome and we really slipped straight into the laidback way of life, even if it was only for a brief week.

Three months later, here we are, now local residents, and have not looked back since.

My wife has secured work with a local coffee shop, as has my son with Rattle “n” Hum, while I continue to work FIFO for Rio Tinto in Western Australia.

It is a great comforting thought that my newly relocated family feel welcome and at home here in Port Douglas and would like to thank the locals for their kindness and helpfulness as we slip into what I believe to be a great lifestyle here in the Far North.

A special thanks to Kristan and Lorraine for helpling us out all the way during our relocation and to Rebecca Greig from LJ Hooker here in Port Douglas for our trouble-free housing needs.

Loving it: Dylan Sharpham at the Port Douglas skate park
