Lights, camera, action for Alison on Straits
LOCAL photographer Alison George has been busy working behind the scenes on the set of The Straits, which will be aired on the ABC on February 2.
Filmed in the Cairns region, Torres Strait and Papua New Guinea over four months, the new television series is set to be action and drama-packed.
A leaked trailer online reveals the plot, with a Cairns family running drugs and guns to the islands as the head of operations Harry Montebello decides which of his three sons will take over the business.
Alison said she gained valuable experience during the four months of filming.
“My job title is video split operator, which is in the camera department and in charge of making the directors always know what pictures are coming out of both cameras and doing some camera assisting as well,” she said.
“It was a massive learning curve, tiring but rewarding.
“Although I was there for every scene it was filmed out of sequence so it will be good to see it all cut together and see the story come together in proper order.
“And if season one goes well, they’ll do season two which will bring the crew back to the area.”
