Netballers in squad
DOUGLAS junior netballers Chenoa Ryan and Rachael Ramsay were selected last Sunday for the Marlin Coast “Marlins” squad.
Only 12 players were selected from 18 who trialled and the squad will train every Sunday in Smithfield under Marlin Coast president Heather Mclaren.
The Douglas girls will continue to train with satellite coach Sharon Beechey to ready players for selection for the “Marlins” Queensland State League side of which 10 will be selected for the travelling team.
The squad will continue to train to ready players for inclusion in the team at a moment’s notice.
The Marlins will play each fortnight from March to June travelling to Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns to compete in the Queensland state league competition.
This is the third tier behind the TransTasman ANZ Championship and the Holden Cruze Cup featuring teams throughout regional and metropolitan Queensland.
The first game will be in Brisbane on March 24 against the Wide Bay Thundercats.
Douglas Junior Netball will begin preseason training this Thursday with ages 12-14 years at the Port Douglas Sports Complex from 4-5pm and 15 years up from 5-6pm.
Training is not compulsory but if you would like to gain some netball fitness and skills please let Sharon Beechey know you are attending on 4098 1565 or 4099 4998.
Pre-season training is recommended for those wanting to trial for representative netball.
Douglas Junior Netball Sign On is on February 14 at the Mossman Indoor Sports Complex from 4-6pm. You can nominate as a team or sign on individually.
