Badge for bowls veteran
VETERAN bowler and all-round good guy Lloyd Valentine was presented with his Veteran’s Badge by the men’s president David Egan for his commitment to the club and the game on Saturday.
After the presentation another memorable afternoon of competition was thoroughly enjoyed by all the players with another good turnout for jackpot bowls.
And the winners are the grinners and they were C Andreassen, T Pitt and D Blain defeated Rangie, Zilly and B Gard 25-23. T Brack, S Jellis and R Parkes defeated B Barabas, Kiwi and C Dwyer 22-15. Morry, C Wills and R Patterson defeated T Gray, T Pisot and J Hocking 24-18. S Renton, G Wilmot and C Maxted defeated K Pitt, Dick Pitt and P Cleary 25-15. J Maxwell, T Brylack and Doug Pitt defeated J Hocking Jnr, G Marsh and J Girgenti 28-18.
L Valentine, P Jansen and D Egan racked up an impressive score against S Chatterton, S Parkes and N Tesch 41-10.
Bowlers will farewell club stalwart and A-grade champion Rod Parkes on Saturday and all bowlers are invited to send him out in style.
“It’s unfortunate I have to leave but I’ve certainly enjoyed it and the club is in good hands,” he said.
In ladies bowls news, 10 brave ladies bowled on Thursday and the winners were Robyn Petrus, Margaret Cooper and Carole Maxted with +15 defeated Denise Highland, Val Robinson and Dot Kostyrka (+12).
Maureen Tucker, Glenys Sharp (+14) defeated Barbara May and Betty Mcclelland (+10). The excited raffle winner was Denise Highland and the playing selectors for January are Kaye Dean and Denise Highland.
