South Ellis Beach works fin­ish­ing

WORKS on re­pair­ing a slope above a sec­tion of the Cap­tain Cook High­way south of Ellis Beach is set to be com­pleted by the end of next month.

Mem­ber for Cook Ja­son O’brien has wel­comed news and said con­trac­tors have been work­ing hard since Au­gust on the sec­tion, which has taken longer than an­tic­i­pated due to the un­cov­er­ing of ad­di­tional dam­age of the gra­di­ent.

“I of­ten com­mute along this road my­self and I know that the pub­lic has been very pa­tient with the pro­ject,” he said.

The work is ex­pected to be com­pleted by the end of next month weather per­mit­ting, and is be­ing de­liv­ered un­der Nat­u­ral Dis­as­ter Re­lief and Re­cov­ery Ar­range­ments, a joint state and fed­eral ini­tia­tive.
