ARTIST Melissah Norris has been appointed the events co-ordinator for this year’s Carnivale showcase.
The first weekend of Carnivale ( May 18-20) will be a food and wine festival, with all the popular food events including Longest Lunch, Palates of Port, Food Wine and a Taste of Port and Seafood Extravaganza.
The second weekend (May 25-26) will feature the Street Parade (May 25) and Beach Day (May 26).
Mel’s working career has been within the entertainment and art industries including international and national film companies and theatre.
She also did three years as publicity/ promotional co-ordinator in the early years of Karnak Amphitheatre.
Mel has been in the Douglas region since attending school, although she’s travelled overseas often.
“Today, I translate original art works, ideas and concepts into and through many different mediums and I’m really looking forward to playing a role in this year’s Carnivale,” she said.
Mel will be working closely with Carnivale manager Ken Dobbs from the festival’s office beside the Sugar Wharf and can be reached on 4084 0044.
