ARTIST Melis­sah Nor­ris has been ap­pointed the events co-or­di­na­tor for this year’s Car­ni­vale show­case.

The first week­end of Car­ni­vale ( May 18-20) will be a food and wine fes­ti­val, with all the pop­u­lar food events in­clud­ing Long­est Lunch, Palates of Port, Food Wine and a Taste of Port and Seafood Ex­trav­a­ganza.

The sec­ond week­end (May 25-26) will fea­ture the Street Pa­rade (May 25) and Beach Day (May 26).

Mel’s work­ing ca­reer has been within the entertainment and art in­dus­tries in­clud­ing in­ter­na­tional and na­tional film com­pa­nies and the­atre.

She also did three years as pub­lic­ity/ pro­mo­tional co-or­di­na­tor in the early years of Kar­nak Am­phithe­atre.

Mel has been in the Dou­glas re­gion since at­tend­ing school, al­though she’s trav­elled over­seas of­ten.

“Today, I trans­late orig­i­nal art works, ideas and con­cepts into and through many dif­fer­ent medi­ums and I’m re­ally look­ing for­ward to play­ing a role in this year’s Car­ni­vale,” she said.

Mel will be work­ing closely with Car­ni­vale man­ager Ken Dobbs from the fes­ti­val’s of­fice be­side the Sugar Wharf and can be reached on 4084 0044.
