Sheraton on Chinese map
CHINA is the world’s fastest-growing travel market and recent figures show the Douglas region is starting to benefit.
The Sheraton Mirage has reported an astounding 400 per cent increase on Chinese occupancy for the Chinese New Year period compared to last year.
The Sheraton will implement Starwood branding from February 1 to maintain this trend.
The group has introduced a new program that will cater towards Chinese travellers, accommodating cultural differences and preferences.
“We are tailoring towards Chinese expectations, with measures such as employing Chinese speaking staff at reception”, Sheraton’s director of business development Junichi Tamakoshi said.
“It is essential that local business work together to capture this emerging and affluent market.”
The Sheraton brand is well known in China with over 70 hotels and 90 new hotels in the pipeline - with one hotel to open every two weeks this year.
