Project too costly

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK -

CONGRATULATIONS to the local ratepayers taking a survey in regard to the “Val Shier Memorial Entertainment Complex” in Cairns.

It is perhaps our only opportunity to express our objection to this lavish construction. If we had a much larger population AND could afford the millions it would be great for the region, but sadly it is beyond our means.

To our knowledge, there has been no community consultation, but our Division 10 councillor voted in favour. Was this truly representative of local opinion?

I have not come across anyone who is in favour of this “Val Shier Edifice”.

Our council rates will surely increase, to enable Cairns Regional Council to proceed with this project, which seems to be hastily moving ahead before the coming election.
