Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

A GROUP of Mossman players travelled to the Sunshine Coast only to find themselves bogged down in some soggy play and this cut Tuesday’s field to 28.

The par event winner was Kym Rowley with +2, second was George Page +1 on a count-back to Ian Prewett, and nearestthe-pins were Larry Smith on 6, Brian Mcdonald on 8, Peter Chrisfield on 10 and 13 and Brett Jurie on 17.

The nine-hole stableford Wednesday competition was won by Adam Ferguson on a count-back to Kerri-lynn Williams, and nearest-the-pins were Russell Watkins on six and Adam Ferguson on eight.

Fourteen ladies contested Thursday’s Par event, which was won by Kerri-lynn Williams on +2 on a count-back to Treveen Page, third was Glenda Christensen and fourth was Shona Barbour, and nearestthe-pins were Treveen on six and KerriLynn on eight and 10.

The heavy rain on Saturday morning reduced the Medley field to 32 men and one lady player. Although the conditions improved in the middle of the day, a storm at 4pm made scoring difficult for some.

A beautiful day encouraged a number of players to participate in Sunday’s Stableford competiton which was won by Keith Gard with 37 points, second was Rick Weimar on 36, third was Art Howard on 35 and fourth was Adam Ferguson on 34, and nearest-the-pins were Julie Hooker on six, Keith on eight and Peter Gray on 10.

The club invites ladies of any age to come along and learn to play Golf, and for those who are interested a clinic is being held on March 12 at 9am, please book on 4098 2089.
