Cham­pi­onships de­layed by wet weather

PLAY­ERS had a dis­ap­point­ing week­end with cham­pi­onship games be­ing washed out af­ter only six to eight ends were played at the Moss­man Bowl­ing Club on Satur­day.

The threes com­pe­ti­tions will re­sume this Satur­day with the scores be­ing car­ried over from last week and the line-up will be D Egan, S Jellis and J Maxwell to play C Maxted, C An­dreassen and Keith Pitt.

And the other team to face-off will be P Cleary, C Wills and Ted Pitt to play Kiwi, T Pisot, and B Barabas. In the pairs, Zilly and L Valen­tine will take-on S Parkes and Colt Pitt.

A-grade sin­gles games sched­uled for this Sun­day will be P Cleary ver­sus B Wol­land, J Maxwell ver­sus R Gard, T Bry­lack to tackle Doug Pitt and D Blain to bat­tle S Parkes.

Mean­while, the A-grade sin­gles com­pe­ti­tion played on Sun­day be­tween Si­mon Jellis and Kiwi was a real nail-biter with Si­mon tak­ing out the glory with a win of 24-25. T Pisot de­feated G Banks 25-21 and C Wills de­feated N Tesch 25-19.

In the B-grade sin­gles C Dwyer de­feated S Ren­ton 26-7 and J Maxwell de­feated S Chat­ter­ton 25-6.

In ladies bowls news, con­grat­u­la­tions to Estelle O’rourke and Bev Zillfleisch who are the Cham­pi­onship Pairs’ win­ners af­ter de­feat­ing So­nia Ed­wards and Kay Mcdon­ald.

Two games of so­cial bowls were played with Car­men Bolton and Glenise Sharp de­feat­ing Joan Day and Judy Maxwell and Greta Kessler and Ca­role Maxted de­feat­ing Robyn Petrus and Jenni Avis. Robyn Petrus was also the raf­fle win­ner.

Cham­pi­onship Fours starts to­day with Val Robin­son, Jan­ice Brly­ack, Zina Gir­genti and Robyn Petrus play­ing Bev Zillfleisch, Car­men Bolton, Mar­garet Cooper and Ma­ree Crees.
