Er­gon mov­ing pole on Bon­nie Doon Rd

ER­GON En­ergy is mov­ing an electricity pole onto the other side of Bon­nie Doon Rd in Cooya Beach af­ter a sec­ond car knocked it down and caused black­outs to over half the re­gion re­cently.

A fe­male driver lost con­trol of her car in wet con­di­tions on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 27, around 8am on Bon­nie Doon Rd and struck the power pole, dis­rupt­ing power.

A 17-year-old Moss­man woman crashed into the pole in De­cem­ber, also caus­ing black­outs in Cooya Beach, Dain­tree, Miallo, Moss­man, Newell Beach, Rocky Point, Whyan­beel and Wonga beach.

In both in­ci­dents the driv­ers suf­fered no in­juries but ex­ten­sive dam­age was caused to the ve­hi­cles and the power pole.

Er­gon En­ergy of­fi­cers in­spected the site and are now plan­ning re­build the short sec­tion of pow­er­line to the other side of the road.
