Miallo cricketer chosen to represent his country
MIALLO express David Coulthard will pack his bags for Dubai in October after being chosen in the Australian Under-15s national cricket team.
The talented teenager was chosen in the national side after impressing selectors at the Australian Under-15s national championships in Tasmania last week.
Coulthard - a destructive left-arm swing bowler and crafty middleorder batsman - was the fifth-highest wicket-taker at the national championships with eight scalps and was one of the best players for Queensland, which finished fourth overall.
He said he hoped to further improve his game on his first international tour.
“I’m a swing bowler and I like to make the ball curve in the air so that the batsman nicks it,” Coulthard said.
“There are faster bowlers than me but I consistently take wickets.
“When we go to Dubai we will be playing teams from around the Arab Emirates area for about three weeks.
They will be quality local teams and I’m hoping that it will help make us even better players.”
Coulthard has been playing cricket since he was seven and is prepared to put in the hard yards to make a career out of it.
“I’m really pleased to have been chosen,” he said,
“I want to make the big time in cricket but I know there is a lot of hard work before I get there.”
Douglas Cricket Club secretary Sue Sorensen said she was thrilled one of the club’s talented youngsters had been chosen for an Australian team.
