Meet the can­di­dates

The Port Dou­glas Cham­ber of Com­merce will hold an open meet­ing on Mon­day for any busi­nesses to voice their con­cerns.

The com­mit­tee meets monthly to ad­dress mat­ters raised by its mem­bers or ex­ter­nal in­flu­ences that are rel­e­vant to Port Dou­glas.

“There are many so­cial events or­gan­ised by the com­mit­tee, how­ever this open meet­ing will pro­vide a more for­mal set­ting for busi­ness own­ers to voice opin­ions or con­cerns,” cham­ber pres­i­dent Ken Dobbs said.

“We as a com­mit­tee are pre­pared to hold an open meet­ing more fre­quently if the de­sire is there and de­pen­dant on how many mem­bers and po­ten­tial mem­bers turn up.”

The meet­ing will be held at the cham­ber of­fice next to the Sugar Wharf from 5.30pm.

The cham­ber will also host a state elec­tion can­di­dates lunch at the Sher­a­ton Mi­rage to­day from 12.30pm to give lo­cal busi­ness op­er­a­tors the chance to ques­tion lo­cal can­di­dates for the up­com­ing state elec­tion and lis­ten to their pro­pos­als.

In at­ten­dance will be Ja­son O’brien of ALP, David Kemp­ton of LNP, Lach­lan Ben­sted of KAP and Jim Evans rep­re­sent­ing One Na­tion.
