Meet the candidates
The Port Douglas Chamber of Commerce will hold an open meeting on Monday for any businesses to voice their concerns.
The committee meets monthly to address matters raised by its members or external influences that are relevant to Port Douglas.
“There are many social events organised by the committee, however this open meeting will provide a more formal setting for business owners to voice opinions or concerns,” chamber president Ken Dobbs said.
“We as a committee are prepared to hold an open meeting more frequently if the desire is there and dependant on how many members and potential members turn up.”
The meeting will be held at the chamber office next to the Sugar Wharf from 5.30pm.
The chamber will also host a state election candidates lunch at the Sheraton Mirage today from 12.30pm to give local business operators the chance to question local candidates for the upcoming state election and listen to their proposals.
In attendance will be Jason O’brien of ALP, David Kempton of LNP, Lachlan Bensted of KAP and Jim Evans representing One Nation.
Tickets are $49 for members or $55 for non-members and last minute bookings can still be made by contacting the chamber on 4084 0285 or emailing secretary@ portdouglaschamber.com.au
