Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

TOURISM Port Douglas and Daintree and the Daintree Marketing Co-operative have been working to educate local businesses to become savvier with social marketing.

The tourism organisations held a free workshop on marketing and media aimed at Daintree local businesses earlier this month.

The recent workshop was additionally geared towards providing practical, simple and cost-effective ways to plan, design and implement marketing activities that get results and to provide a broad range of tools to use in their businesses.

Attended by 43 local Daintree business people, the marketing seminar was an encore to a successful marketing educational session held in Port Douglas last November, in awareness of the tough year faced by many businesses.

“It was great to get business operators form the north and south of the river together, to compare successes, challenges and know that they are not alone out there,” organiser of the event and member of Daintree Marketing Cooperative chairwoman Sheena Walshaw said.

“The seminar aimed to provide cost-effective, easy to implement marketing solutions as well as advice on public relations and was hugely successful.”
