Barefoot fusion fun
PORT Fusion will stage its inaugural Douglas region barefoot bowls networking competition at the Mossman Memorial Bowls Club on March 30.
Local tourism identities Tara Bennett and Kirsten Taylor organise the regular Port Fusion networking events and decided on the barefoot bowls concept as a great way to catch up with old faces and welcome new ones in the tourism industry.
“Having thoroughly enjoyed a barefoot bowling day in Cairns last year we wanted to bring the format to the Douglas region as it provides an ideal opportunity to introduce yourself to a large selection of people,” Tara said.
“Everyone involved in the tourism industry in the Port Douglas and Daintree region is encouraged to put together a team and come along.
“We’d love everyone to take a breather and enjoy a laugh together before the school holidays begin.
“Port Fusion is a fabulous opportunity to promote your product and create relationships with people that can benefit you and your business.”
Teams of four are expected to line up for the afternoon and no experience is necessary as some of the club players will be on hand to provide tips.
“We’d love teams to get into the spirit and come dressed in a theme and give themselves a name so we can make the event fun and friendly,” Kirsten said.
“Prizes will be awarded for the
local tourism identities Tara Bennett, Za Harricharan, Kirsten Taylor and Natalie Johnson best dressed team as well as the winners.”
The function is only $10 which covers nibbles and the bus provided by Sun Palm Transport to and from the bowls club and a cash bar is available.
The event starts at 1.30pm, finishing up about 5pm. Sun Palm transport has offered transfers to and from Port Douglas however ample parking is available at the bowls club.
