Editor’s comment:

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK - Greg Mclean Managing editor

IT APPEARS a formality the LNP will win Saturday’s election convincingly.

Even Labor is conceding defeat with its television advertisements this week urging voters to ensure the LNP isn’t handed an overwhelming majority.

The question voters in the Douglas region have to decide on is, has Jason O’brien done enough in Government to secure your vote or do you side with the LNP’S David Kempton who is almost certain to be in power come Saturday night.

While I’m happy to sit on the fence in regards to de-amalgamation until a proper cost analysis is completed, it appears even Cairns Regional Council wants the community to decide one way or the other.

Kempton has also promised to construct a roundabout at the entrance of Port Douglas and has at least shown support for State Government backing of the Sheraton Mirage redevelopment.

O’brien deserves credit for his support of the Port Douglas Waterfront but we are yet to see an actual dollar amount put forward. Voters probably have to fall behind the LNP by default but Kempton has to deliver.
