Sharks keen to stay unbeaten

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

THE Mossman-port Douglas Sharks will be out to keep their unbeaten start to the season intact when they tackle Tully in their CDRL clash on Saturday night.

After scoring an impressive win over Ivanhoes in round one, managing a draw against Atherton in round two and having last weekend’s match against Edmonton postponed due to the weather, the Sharks are confident of beating the winless Tully despite having to travel for the match.

Captain-coach Daryl Lightning said more than 30 players turned up for training on Tuesday night despite the weather and were keen to continue their great start to the season.

“They’ve been coming to training rain, hail or shine as well as our Cairns boys who do their own training,” he said.

“We’re ready to hit Tully hard and hope to get a lot of support with the club taking a bus down on Saturday.

“We have a good side and they’re ready to play - I’ve given all the boys a job to do and they’re doing it.”

The supporters’ bus to Tully leaves from outside the Mossman Post Office around 9am on Saturday and costs just $10. For more information contact club president Bronson Ryan on 0478 027 259.
