A HEAD-ON collision between two vehicles occurred at the Cooya Beach turn-off on Captain Cook Highway on Tuesday.
Police said a vehicle allegedly pulled out from Bonnie Doon Rd into the path of another vehicle about 5.30pm.
A 27-year-old Port Douglas woman driving one vehicle walked away without injury.
The other driver, an 84-year-old Cooktown man, suffered a head injury and a possible broken hip and was taken to Mossman Hospital and later transferred to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment.
Mossman police are continuing the investigation into the cause of the accident and any witnesses should call 4098 2177 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
