A HEAD-ON col­li­sion be­tween two ve­hi­cles oc­curred at the Cooya Beach turn-off on Cap­tain Cook High­way on Tues­day.

Po­lice said a ve­hi­cle al­legedly pulled out from Bon­nie Doon Rd into the path of an­other ve­hi­cle about 5.30pm.

A 27-year-old Port Dou­glas woman driv­ing one ve­hi­cle walked away with­out in­jury.

The other driver, an 84-year-old Cook­town man, suf­fered a head in­jury and a pos­si­ble bro­ken hip and was taken to Moss­man Hospi­tal and later trans­ferred to Cairns Base Hospi­tal for treat­ment.

Moss­man po­lice are con­tin­u­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the cause of the ac­ci­dent and any wit­nesses should call 4098 2177 or Crime Stop­pers on 1800 333 000.
