Carnivale club puts on a show
PREPARE to be entertained with the Carnivale Club’s week of comedy, art, fashion, sport, environmental talk and even a sexy burlesque cabaret.
Carnivale Club will feature a variety of entertainment for under $40 a ticket at the historic Sugar Wharf from May 19 to 25.
The sideshow spectacular will kick off with an art exhibition showcasing talented local artists Caroline Mudge and Bryce Banister, with the gallery open during the whole week from 3pm to 6pm.
After a whirlwind of events, the Carnivale Club will hand over the spotlight to the famous Carnivale parade on Friday May 25, which is expected to pack Macrossan Street.
Carnivale Club manager Claire Tierney said this year will see the launch of a new look Carnivale Club, with something for everyone.
“Carnivale Club is a way of tying the weekends together into one big event and it’s also a venue with really good entertainment any night of the week as part of Carnivale,” she said.
“It’s showcasing the talent of Port Douglas and the region - we’ve got regional and national talent on the stage, this year I think we’ve really captured the essence.
“The invention of Carnival Club is a reflection of what people have asked for, to make the Carnivale make sense for the locals and every year there’ll be different things.
“It’s a low-cost ticket option, it’s a beautiful venue and reflects that Port Douglas has more to offer than just food and wine.”
