Car­ni­vale club puts on a show

PRE­PARE to be en­ter­tained with the Car­ni­vale Club’s week of com­edy, art, fash­ion, sport, en­vi­ron­men­tal talk and even a sexy bur­lesque cabaret.

Car­ni­vale Club will fea­ture a va­ri­ety of en­ter­tain­ment for un­der $40 a ticket at the his­toric Sugar Wharf from May 19 to 25.

The sideshow spec­tac­u­lar will kick off with an art ex­hi­bi­tion show­cas­ing tal­ented lo­cal artists Caro­line Mudge and Bryce Ban­is­ter, with the gallery open dur­ing the whole week from 3pm to 6pm.

Af­ter a whirl­wind of events, the Car­ni­vale Club will hand over the spot­light to the fa­mous Car­ni­vale pa­rade on Fri­day May 25, which is ex­pected to pack Macrossan Street.

Car­ni­vale Club man­ager Claire Tier­ney said this year will see the launch of a new look Car­ni­vale Club, with some­thing for ev­ery­one.

“Car­ni­vale Club is a way of ty­ing the week­ends to­gether into one big event and it’s also a venue with re­ally good en­ter­tain­ment any night of the week as part of Car­ni­vale,” she said.

“It’s show­cas­ing the tal­ent of Port Dou­glas and the re­gion - we’ve got re­gional and na­tional tal­ent on the stage, this year I think we’ve re­ally cap­tured the essence.

“The in­ven­tion of Car­ni­val Club is a re­flec­tion of what peo­ple have asked for, to make the Car­ni­vale make sense for the lo­cals and ev­ery year there’ll be dif­fer­ent things.

“It’s a low-cost ticket op­tion, it’s a beau­ti­ful venue and re­flects that Port Dou­glas has more to of­fer than just food and wine.”
