DOU­GLAS Ju­nior Net­ball’s youngest play­ers have com­pleted six weeks of their 10-week pro­gram, the Net Set Go pro­gram, which is an in­tro­duc­tion to net­ball for play­ers who are eight years old and un­der.

The girls are taught the ba­sic skills of net­ball such as con­cen­trat­ing on pass­ing and foot­work and to have fun while learn­ing. Each week the play­ers are gain­ing net­ball skills in a safe and en­joy­able en­vi­ron­ment with a dif­fer­ent prize each week to take home with them.

At the end of the pro­gram, all the play­ers will have the op­por­tu­nity to join a team in the Un­der 10s, af­ter hav­ing learned all the nec­es­sary skills to start play­ing.

Mean­while, the Ju­nior Mar­lin trial was held in Moss­man re­cently, and the Mar­lin Coast pres­i­dent, Heather Mclaren, se­lected play­ers be­tween 13 to 14 years old to join the Ju­nior Mar­lin Squad. The Squad will then at­tend train­ing camps dur­ing the year to up-skill in readi­ness to trial for the Mar­lin Academy in fu­ture years.

And Dou­glas Net­ball is proud to an­nounce the Ju­nior Mar­lins for 2012: Mar­ley Cairns, Eleisha Meal­ing, Saisha Scho­nen­berger, Jess Ea­gle- Rowe, Tayler Durie, Lau­ren Ryan and Rae Page.

The first train­ing camp will be held on Sun­day at the YMCA in Smith­field at 8.45am. Train­ing is com­pul­sory.

The Un­der 14 Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Squad - Tri­als for the Un­der 14 Un­der Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Squad were held on March 29 at Moss­man In­door.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to: Saisha Scho­nen­berger, Jess Ea­gleRowe, Eleisha Meal­ing, Mar­ley Cairns, Tayler Durie, Rae Page, Bronte Lowen­stein-jones, Emma Stievano and Jade Schuck­will.

Dou­glas net­ballers will be re­quired to train at Port Courts on April 20 from 4pm to 5.30pm with Vicki Wil­son. Train­ing is com­pul­sory. Train­ing will also be on Sun­day, April 29, from 4-5.30pm at Port Courts.
