What’s happening and where this Anzac Day
Dawn Service - Cow Bay memorial Service–starting at 4.30 am
Dawn Service – starting at 5.30am at the Anzac memorial in front of CRC Mossman Offices, RSL Mossman Branch President Ron Savage will make an address and Deacon Eric Pitt will say a prayer.
Wreaths will be laid in honour of the fallen at the Anzac Memorial and ex-service men and woman will march from the Memorial to the RSL Hall, where breakfast will be served.
At 10.20am the Port Douglas Parade will form up opposite Port Village, and march down Macrossan St, to Anzac Park Memorial for a Commemoration Service.
The procession will be led by servicemen and women from the HMAS Labuan who are attending the services in Mossman and Port Douglas, followed by Mossman RSL ex-service men and women and family members marching on behalf of their deceased loved ones.
They will be followed by Emergency Services, then the Mossman State High School, then youth organisations and finally local primary schools.
Mossman State High School students’ band will provide music for the commemoration service, hymns will be sung along with both the Australian and New Zealand national anthems , followed by reading out names of the fallen in WWI, WWII and Vietnam and ex-servicemen who died in the past year.
The Last Post will be played with a Wreath laying and then servicemen and women and emergency services are invited to the CWA hall in Blake St, Port Douglas, for morning tea.
