CWA looking for members

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

THE CWA are always looking for more members to join its organisation, which raises money for projects all around the world and provides support for women and families in the community.

Their charity projects aim for sustainability, like in New Guinea where they provide money for clean water and for women to grow vegetables so they have income and can send their children to school.

Port Douglas CWA has an action-packed year in store for its members and the community, including Friday afternoon games, young families afternoon, Christmas in July, poetry writing competition, monthly poetry and pasta night and a cake cookery competition.

“CWA is there for whatever you want it to be, if people want to do craft or learn how to sow free of charge then we have people quite happy to teach how to follow a pattern,” CWA member Faye Hudson said.

“CWA is so much more than just scones, last year we had a public crisis rural fund and raised millions of dollars for all those people who lost everything with the floods.”

For more information or to join the CWA in either Mossman or Port Douglas, contact the division president Meg Trimble on 0427 965 526.
