Editor’s comment:

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FEEDBACK - Greg Mclean Managing editor

VOTERS in the Douglas region are blessed with four very capable candidates for Division 10 in Saturday’s Cairns Regional Council elections.

Each of the four candidates have a strong background and solid commitment to their community and would more than likely be a capable representative for our region.

But in the three years I have lived here, Julia Leu stands out as one of the most dedicated and effective politicians I have dealt with in 16 years of association through the media.

Being a politician is a largely thankless job and while some choose to slink off in the background and chew the fat of the public purse, others take their role incredibily seriously and work their fingers to the bone for their constituents.

I know for a fact Julia Leu fits into the latter category to a degree I have rarely seen before.

Taking nothing away from the other Division 10 candidates, the Douglas region will be well placed if she is re-elected.

And if you don’t like Val Shier, then be careful what you wish for.
