Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

A PORT Douglas couple suffered facial injuries after being assaulted by three men on Warner St.

The 26-year-old and his partner, a 23-yearold woman, were walking on Warner St on Anzac Day between 10pm and 11pm when they came across two men.

Police said the Port Douglas man had an argument with the two men which escalated when one of the offenders allegedly punched the 26-year-old in the face.

A third unknown man jumped out of a vehicle and allegedly punched and knocked the 26-year-old to the ground.

In the meantime, police said the woman attempted to come to the aid of her partner and was also struck, receiving a minor laceration to her lip.

The 26-year-old received injuries to the side of his head and three stitches to his lip.

The alleged offenders ran away from the scene but police said there was CCTV footage from where the offence occurred and from another area where the three men were seen walking.

Police believe there were witnesses and urge anyone who saw the fight to contact police to help identify the offenders on 4087 1999 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
