Mossman power to the people

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

MOSSMAN residents and businesses have welcomed Ergon Energy’s connection for the town’s power supply to the hospital feeder to improve reliability.

Rocky Point Port Views Estate Community Association secretary Malcolm Mckellar said the move was another step in the right direction.

“We are pleased to see that Ergon’s commitment to reconnect all of Mossman to the Mossman Hospital feeder has been achieved,” Mr Mckellar said.

“This will go a long way to removing the northern end of town from exposure to failures on the Cooya loop (Cassowary-cooya-foxton Bridge) portion of the Daintree feeder, and providing additional redundancy to the Daintree feeder north of the Foxton Bridge in the event of failures on that Cooya loop,” Mr Mckellar said

Ergon’s manager for regional services northern operations Geoff Bowes also confirmed Ergon’s undertaking to look at how Ergon could eventually move the region on to the “bullet-proof” 132kv feeder supply.
