Cooya Beach kids give new playground the thumbs up
FAMILIES in Cooya Beach finally have some new playground equipment courtesy of the Ocean Breeze developer and Cairns Regional Council.
Melbourne-based developer John Chivers said they joined forces with the council to jointly fund the new equipment after conversations with local residents about what was needed for Lou Prince Playground.
“We realised there are many young families in the community and the play equipment wasn’t suitable for the younger kids,” he said.
“There is new play equipment, a proposed barbecue area, shade sails to go up and new trees being planted.
“It’s now a more all-age family-friendly playground.”
Cooya Beach resident Naomi Arthurson said locals are loving the new attraction.
“It was great to see the park so busy over the weekend,” she said.
“The poles are up and we are expecting the shade sails to be added soon which will be another great addition.”
Mr Chivers is keen for a small opening ceremony of for the park upgrade in conjunction with the stage four completion of the estate.
