Traf­fic ac­cess al­tered for sports­fest

WITH the Coral Coast Triathlon be­ing held in Port Dou­glas this Sun­day, Cairns Re­gional Coun­cil is keen to en­sure lo­cals clearly un­der­stand the changes in traf­fic con­di­tions.

Par­tic­i­pat­ing cy­clists, swim­mers and run­ners re­quire the use of public roads and wa­ter­ways for the event.

While there will be full ac­cess into Port Dou­glas be­tween the race times of 5am and 1pm, some changed traf­fic con­di­tions for mo­torists may re­sult in traf­fic de­lays, with traf­fic con­trollers on duty to di­rect mo­torists to diver­sion routes into town.

David­son Street, Port Dou­glas Road and The Cap­tain Cook High­way will be open with changed traf­fic con­di­tions while The Es­planade, Old Port Road, Gar­rick and Blake Streets will all be closed to traf­fic from 5-10am and Mowbray River Road un­til 1pm.
