Beach day free plant give­away

CAIRNS Re­gional Coun­cil will be cel­e­brat­ing the Car­ni­vale Beach Day on Satur­day with a free plant give­away to lo­cal res­i­dents.

All you have to do is visit the coun­cil stall on the Es­planade and re­ceive your free plant, with 10 species to choose from in­clud- ing as­sorted palms, bot­tle brush, beach lilies and edge plants.

All the plants are na­tive to the Far North so are suit­able to the cli­mate and soil types of the re­gion.

The coun­cil team will be at the coun­cil mar­quee from 8am-2pm.

Coun­cil is also of­fer­ing green thumbs free mulch from the waste trans­fer sta­tions at Newell Beach and Kil­laloe from Fri­day.

The free mulch will be avail­able at the de­pots un­til Mon­day or un­til stocks run out.
