Theatre­s­ports come­back

LO­CALS and vis­i­tors alike are in­vited to wit­ness the spon­ta­neous and witty dy­namic game of Theatre­s­ports again this year.

Proudly pre­sented by The Trop­i­cal North Theatre com­pany and The Clink Theatre for the sec­ond year run­ning, or­gan­is­ers are gear­ing up for a gig­gle packed evening.

Teams of four will duke it out in front of an au­di­ence and a panel of judges in a dar­ing com­pe­ti­tion of im­pro­vi­sa­tion and com­edy in the ’Whose Line Is It Any­way?’ style of things.

Di­rec­tor of Trop­i­cal North Theatre Com­pany Ni­cole Carn­aby, said Theatre­s­ports was such a suc­cess­ful event last year that they de­cided to do it all again.

“The au­di­ence loved the raw com­edy and the in­ter­ac­tion with the per­form­ers,” she said.

Shaun Cram and Bruno Ben­nett will be judg­ing teams on spon­tane­ity, comic tim­ing, abil­ity to cre­ate sto­ries and en­ter­tain­ment value.

TNTC en­deav­our to bring the com­mu­nity to­gether.

“We bring lo­cal per­son­al­i­ties such as Dave 00 Evans and Shaun Cram to­gether with peo­ple from the theatre group and Moss­man State High School with the aim of get­ting them up on the stage to per­form in front of the com­mu­nity and give them valu­able ex­pe­ri­ence in act­ing,” she said.

With a va­ri­ety of lo­cal busi­nesses of­fer­ing their ser­vices, prizes for win­ning teams will in­clude res­tau­rant vouch­ers and reef tours.

The Theatre­s­ports com­pe­ti­tion will be held on Satur­day, June 9, at The Clink Theatre start­ing at 7:30pm.

Tick­ets for this laugh out loud event can be pur­chased prior to the show at Ori­gin Espresso in Port Dou­glas, Good­ies Café in Moss­man, www. try­book­ or at The Clink on the night. Cost $18 or $15 for mem­bers/ con­ces­sion.
