Budding authors urged to enter stories
BUDDING authors are being encouraged to put pen to paper for the fifth annual Gazette/ Reef Writers short story and poetry competition.
The competition officially launches today and has been expanded to six categories to encourage greater participation.
Categories include open, intermediate (1518 years) and junior (9-14 years) short story and open, intermediate and junior poetry.
Entries can be fiction or non-fiction with the only stipulation being the works must be original and not previously entered in another competition.
Whileaway has again signed up as a sponsor with hundreds of dollars in book vouchers up for grabs.
Organiser Pablo Freeman said he was keen to see the creativity of the community on display once again.
“Each year the quality just gets better and better,” he said.
Entry forms are on page 39 of today’s Gazette and are also available from the Gazette office in the Saltwater building in Grant St or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
