THE Palates of Port bus ac­ci­dent in­volv­ing 27 guests is still un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the Cairns Foren­sic Crash Unit.

The Sun Palm trans­fer bus was driv­ing to­wards Flames of the For­est in Mowbray about 7pm on May 18 when it rolled off the edge of the road and down an em­bank­ment where it tipped onto its side into a creek.

Emer­gency ser­vices rushed to the scene and checked out all 28 peo­ple on board the bus.

Three peo­ple were taken to Cairns Base Hospi­tal with sus­pected frac­tured ribs and col­lar­bones and sev­eral oth­ers trans­ported to Moss­man hospi­tal with mi­nor in­juries.

Those who were hos­pi­talised have since been re­leased.

Sev­eral peo­ple on board the bus have told the Gazette the driver turned the lights off on ap­proach to the func­tion.

Event or­gan­is­ers have de­nied the bus driver turned the lights off.

Sergeant John Fischer has said it is still too early in the in­ves­ti­ga­tion to spec­u­late on what hap­pened.
