Dou­glas Ju­nior Net­ball started last Tues­day with the Pythons play­ing the Gla­di­a­tors on court 1.In an­other fast and fu­ri­ous start with Han­nah Durie GA for the Pythons all over the court as usual, the Gla­di­a­tors cen­tre Ge­or­gia McCarthy proved a force to be reck­oned with her great de­fence and fast pace was bril­liant to watch, Pythons WA Fauve Saleras did a great job keep­ing in from of her op­po­nent but Gla­di­a­tors WD Chelsea McKay was just as quick so it was a great con­test be­tween the two girls.

Char­lotte Dowl­ing’s de­fence skills were out­stand­ing, des­tined to de­fend in the goal cir­cle. Jenna Ker­swell, Gla­di­a­tors GD, stepped into the game and showed mo­ments of bril­liance. The sec­ond half was just as quick both teams equally skilled and matched, de­fence on both sides too good for ei­ther team to score in the 3rd quar­ter, last quar­ter the Gla­di­a­tors stormed the court, Pythons Lo­gan Buzza did her best to stop the Gla­di­a­tors but they were on fire! The Wild­catz played Net Set Go on court 2 the teams play and train with the girls learn­ing skills, rules and court eti­quette, NSG’s Edie Thurtell was a stand­out for the game be­com­ing a sea­soned at­tack and Alex Brown lead well for the cen­tre passes play­ing Wing At­tack. The Al­ls­tars played some very pacy net­ball, Kate Padovan put in a bril­liant de­fence and Jor­dan Scott a very strong cen­tre. Final score Net Set Go 1 def. Al­ls­tars nil. The 12s on court 1 started with the Di­a­monds play­ing the Poi­son Ap­ples the first quar­ter had both teams 4 goals each, the Ap­ples played some great net­ball show­ing ex­cel­lent team­work and strong plays in de­fence, Shon­nie Lo­mas was bril­liant as Goal Keeper and Cartier Ben­nett was ever handy in all po­si­tions played. The Di­a­monds stepped up their act from the 2nd quar­ter gain­ing mo­men­tum over the court mak­ing it dif­fi­cult for the Ap­ples to score, Alee­sha Vi­ola was a force in at­tack and Piper Adams fin­ished well at goal. Final score Di­a­monds 18 def. Ap­ples 8. Um­pires Al­fina To­len­tini and Mikeala Good­win. Court 2 saw the Red Hot Pep­pers play the Miallo Al­ls­tars, the Al­ls­tars came out to play they were strong in at­tack and de­fence the play­ers gelled as a team and were very hard to score against, Ebony Scho­nen­berger was named play­ers choice and Jenna Ker­swell Best & Fairest. The Pep­pers were re­lent­less in their de­fence against the Al­ls­tars the girls played with great con­fi­dence but could not over­come their op­po­si­tion’s fast pace. Player’s choice for Pep­pers Ge­or­gia Kelly and Best & Fairest Keely Harold. Final score Al­ls­tars 14 def. Pep­pers 3. Um­pires Maddy Weaver and Holly Brown.

The 14-16s com­pe­ti­tion be­gan with the Sap­phires play­ing the 12 Reps, The Sap­phires nar­rowly de­feated the Reps by 1 goal in the last quar­ter. Maddy Weaver and Holly Brown shot con­sis­tently for goal and Kloee Revel did a great job de­fend­ing the Rep team shoot­ers ward­ing off many at­tempts at goal. For the Reps Lana Bax­ter again played well and Piper Adams shot 6 from 10 at­tempts, well done! Alee­sha Vi­ola and Bon­nie Fran­cis worked hard on the court. Final score Sap­phires 15 def. Reps 14. Um­pires Rochelle Miller and Kahlee Tesch. Match re­port by Carol Ben­nett. On court 2 the Break­ers played the Fu­sion, the Break­ers starred in the first quar­ter, Jess Vi­ola shot well for goal, Lucy Web­ster was ex­cel­lent in cen­tre, Breeana Ford­ham all over the op­po­si­tion and Ge­or­gia Dun­can had lots of in­ter­cepts, the Break­ers fought the game out to the end but strug­gled to get the ball up to their goals. The Fu­sion team stepped up in the 2nd quar­ter show­ing some strong game play, Lau­ren Rad­cliffe was ex­cel­lent in at­tack, Rachael Good­win shot well for goal, Hazuki Kirby lead the team well show­ing her ex­pe­ri­ence and grace. Final score Fu­sion 19 def. Break­ers 5. Um­pires Tayler Durie and Saisha Scho­nen­berger. Court 3 had the Dy­na­mite play the Vipers, by the end of the first half the Vipers were a goal up, Saisha Scho­nen­berger’s great de­fence made it dif­fi­cult for the Dy­na­mite’s to score and Molly De­laney put in a strong at­tack. The Dy­na­mite had a burst of en­ergy in the 3rd quar­ter shoot­ing 5 goals to nil, Me­gan Von Key­ser­lingk prov­ing her­self a strong de­fence and Mar­ley Cairns on fire for goal. Final score Dy­na­mites11 def. Vipers 7. Um­pires Karla Lo­gan and Grace Walker.
