Netballers come out full of fire

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

ANOTHER exciting week of netball saw teams come out firing from all angles.

In the Division 1, Rattle N Hum started off strong against Crocs 1, winning the first quarter, however their luck soon ran out when Crocs saw a boost of confidence to win the remaining three quarters.

Final score was 23-16 with Kate Newell and Zara Ryan winning the Best and Fairest points.

The next game saw the clash between the top two teams.

Cougars set out to win with their quick plays and feeds into the circle, however it wasn’t good enough to keep up with the strong defensive side of the Young Guns.

Final score was 34-18 with Ange and Kelly King winning Best and Fairest.

In Division 2, the experience of the Ring Ins was too good for the young and determined Jets side.

Ring Ins started strong, yet Jets had the never say die attitude forcing their opponents to work for possession and goals.

The end results saw Ring Ins win with a score of 19-9. Natalie Littler and Kristen Cambrose won the Best and Fairest points.

Crocs 2 played Gunnars who are showing improvement week by week.

The Gunnars didn’t let the game go easily as each quarter was a fight for goals.

Despite Gunnars efforts, Crocs 2 came off with the win. Final score was 19-10 with Jodie Kerswell and Natalie Castro winning Best and Fairest points.

The last match for the night saw a close game between the Division 3 teams, the Reptos and Bits N Pieces. Each team won two of the four quarters but the young rep team used their experience and fitness to fight back and win by 4 goals. Final score 16-12.

Wolverines unfortunately forfeited to the Breakers who were sporting a full strength side for the first time last night.
